Herefordshire & beyond…

With a thriving foodie scene and strong farming roots, local produce is of the very best quality and utmost importance in Herefordshire and just 7 miles down the road from Mole Hill Hut, you’ll find the delightful Oakchurch farm shop, previously described as being ‘the Harrods of Herefordshire’. Wherever your adventures take you during your time here, there is no shortage of fantastic culinary experiences, from summertime street food festival Hereford Indie Food, Michellin starred restaurants such as Pensons and cosy yet innovative gastro pubs like The Bulls Head at Craswall, to field to fork, home grown spots like A Rule of Tum, Off Grid Gourmet and Under The Nut Tree.

Herefordshire is an avid walkers dream location with The Malvern’s in the east, Clee Hills to the north, the Black Mountains to the south and the Brecon Beacons to the west. Popular routes such as the Cats Back, the Offa's Dyke Path, the Herefordshire Trail and Wye Valley walks are all within easy reach.

A scenic drive west alongside the Wye will lead you to the internationally famous ‘Town of Books’ Hay on Wye, home to the critically acclaimed, annual 10 day celebration of literature and arts Hay Festival, and packed with a range of eclectic independent shops, over 30 bookshops, delightful cafes, restaurants and pubs, set against the stunning backdrop of the imposing Black Mountains.

Mole Hill Hut is situated in the small, traditional Herefordshire village of Eaton Bishop, on the edge of the Golden Valley, a countryside paradise where you can enjoy a slower pace of life.

Despite being well known for its delicious cider and impressive cattle, Herefordshire is still somewhat of an unspoilt, well kept secret and the perfect balance of bustling and subdued.

The area is well loved for its outdoor pursuits including walking, cycling, golf, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing and wild swimming and equally so for being steeped in history, with the delightful riverside city of Hereford and its magnificent cathedral, home to the world famous Mappa Mundi and Magna Carta, less than 7 miles away.

The winding, picturesque River Wye is just a stones throw from Eaton Bishop and neighbouring village Preston on Wye has a great launch spot where you can hire canoes, kayaks and paddle boards from Ultimate Canoe Hire.

Other pretty neighbouring villages include Madley & Kingstone, both with lovely traditional pubs and small shops for all the essentials.
