Our story…

Designing and building Mole Hill Hut was focused on creating a unique experience that would allow our guests to enjoy the spaces in their own right as well as using them as a base to explore the area that we are lucky enough to call home. Just a mile from the River Wye, our home overlooks the valley and enjoys spectacular views of the Black Mountains and the sunsets over the heart of eastern Mid-Wales. We created Mole Hill Hut to allow us to share this special place with our guests and create an escape for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful break in the heart of the Welsh Borders.  We've always had a soft spot for shepherds' huts and over the last 15 years or so we've followed their popular resurgence and the talented makers who combine skill and artisan flair in transforming what was once a very humble shepherds’ retreat, into something far more sumptuous for the 21st century.

At the start of 2020, we set about finding a hut builder that shared our vision, and so began the process of transforming a corner of our sheep meadow into an idyllic escape. The result, after two long years, was Mole Hill Hut, lovingly created by Riverside Huts in Worcestershire. We added to the experience by creating the Trough, a space that we built ourselves, combining many up-cycled elements to provide what we hope is a memorable and comfortable addition to the Hut.

Bringing it all together was a genuine family affair, each one of us contributed to the final result and we are really proud to share it those who are looking for an exclusive and private get-away. For all its escapism, the Hut is still within easy reach of the area’s most inspiring destinations. Whether you just want to enjoy the peace and the views that our location affords, or fancy walking the Black Mountains or Brecon Beacons, canoeing the River Wye, or sampling the delights of historic Hereford or the famous book town of Hay-on-Wye, we hope to have crafted a place in which you can feel completely at ease and at home. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Best wishes,

Jules, Tania & Jack xxx
